Capcom Releases 2012 Sales Figures, Reports Losses
John O’Grady | 5/10/12 10:00 pm

Industry giant Capcom recently released their sales figures for the fiscal year of 2012, most notably featuring a 16% decrease in net sales and a 13.8% decrease in profit from 2011. They have reported that sales of their most recent fighting title Street Fighter X Tekken have been “lagging”, having sold 1.4 million copies as of the time of the release, while their other recent flagship titles Monster Hunter Tri G and Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City have performed “steadily”, selling 1.6 and 1.7 million copies respectively. It is worth noting that Capcom expects Street Fighter X Tekken to reach its projected goal of 2 million copies soon once DLC characters are released, and expects record high profits once Resident Evil 6 is released. But for now, how will these losses affect Capcom’s game releases? Will they take a break from fighting games? Will this lower the chance of games such as Ace Attorney: Investigations 2 being localized? Will we see no change from Capcom at all?
